Solids De-watering Expansion - The District is in the planning stages of a de-watering facility expansion where additional equipment will be provided to increase the capacity and redundancy of this system. Processed wastewater and microorganisms that are diverted out of the treatment system as a byproduct are sent to solids de-watering for further processing. This byproduct is initially approximately 1% solids and 99% water which would lead to high hauling costs and difficult disposal. De-watering equipment results in a product called biosolids that is over 18% solids and can be hauled with a conventional dump truck. This product is capable of being further dried on the District's air drying pad or directly applied to agricultural fields as a soil amendment.
